How To Make A Great Cheeseburger
79cheseburger
Over the years I have eaten more than a few hamburgers and of those a significant number have been cheeseburgers. There is something about the combination of beef and cheese that is almost primal.
There are a few restaurants that over the years have made a hamburger worthy of eating; something that was not fast food but a real taste treat and not something that a drive-thru had on the menu.
However, by far the best burger and cheese burger that I have ever tasted is the one that I cooked myself.
Now your basic burger is not that difficult to prepare and anyone who wants to learn to cook needs a recipe for a basic burger; after all at the burger entry level all you need is ground beef, some cheese and a bun or two; and whatever topping you like an you have your own homemade cheeseburger. This burger will still be better than what you get in most fast food places and it will be cheaper.
Once you have mastered this basic recipe:
1 lb ground beef
4 slices cheese, Swiss or cheddar
4 hamburger buns
Mustard, relish, onions, ketchup pickles whatever does it for you.
Preparations:
Divide hamburger into 4 equal portions
Form portions into patties
Place in frying pan on medium heat
Cook on one side for 4 minutes
Flip
Cook on other side 4 minutes
Toast buns if desired
Place bun on plate
Add burger patty and sliced cheese and toppings of yoru choice;
You can add the cheese directly to the patty while it is the frying pan for melting purposes. Do this in the last 90 seconds of cooking the patty,
You can move onto the cheeseburger supreme.
Cheeseburgers Supreme;
1 lb extra lean ground beef
4 whole wheat Kaiser rolls
Extra old cheddar cheese sliced
Romaine lettuce
Soya sauce, favourite hot sauce to taste.
Dijon mustard,
4 slices of Spanish onion
4 slices tomato beefsteak preferred.
Black pepper to taste.
1 tsp butter
Preparations;
I use a cast iron frying pan to make burgers and many other dishes. The cast iron pan gets hot and cooks quick and deep.
Put extra lean ground beef into bowl; add soya sauce, hot sauce, black pepper, mix. Use your hands it’s fun and squishy.
Form mix into four equal patties.
Place butter into frying pan turn on medium
When butter melts add patties
Slice cheese, use as much as you want.
Cook patties four minutes, flip,
Cook 2 ½ minutes add cheese.
Cook another 1 ½ minutes
Slice Kaiser Rolls
Add lettuce and tomato
Place patty on bun
Add mustard and onion.
Enjoy,
You can serve with a side salad.
Now this is a cheeseburger that is worth eating; it may cost a buck or two more than the basic model but it is oh so worth the expense. What’s more you can make this whole meal in fewer than 20 minutes.
If you can prepare both these versions you not only have a quick meal for regular evening, the basic version but you also have a fancy meal for a special evening.
Perhaps even more importantly, you now can cook and are well on yoru way to food freedom.

The Cheeseburger Supreme with all the additions on a Kaiser roll, now thats yummy! Thanks for the recipe and thanks too for the reason why you use the cast iron pan.
Hi Bob, I agree. Burgers are great! They're a fabulous way to embark upon your culinary education. Who doesn't love burgers?
I love burgers. I prefer them over the grill and usually mix in a few spices. I learned somewhere that it if you like thick burgers it is a good idea to make a little indent in the middle so it doesn't plump up too much in the middle. My grandmother used to make them in a griddle though with peppers and onions. That always came out great. I like my burger medium rare so that it is decently pink on the inside maybe even a little red. I hate overcooked burgers. Lot's of restaurants now refuse to give me anything less than medium so I say forget it. I will definitely try out the burger supreme.
Hot Dog!! (couldn't resist) =)) I do love a burger and with beefsteak tomatoes and extra old cheddar THIS SOUNDS SO GOOD !! thanks bob,
here's to 'FOOD FREEDOM' I love that phrase. With economics in the toilet...we all need to eat at home, which is the best restaurant in town!!
im gonna try it....thanks alot....sir
Bob! Can I have mine with hot peppers please? And fries on the side. A cheese burger is not a cheeseburger without them there fries.
Great hub again regards Zsuzsy
I could almost smell the beef frying as I read this hub. Very well done and a great recipe.
I listed this Hub on my hub about Honey. I think it's very good, especially if people can smell the food while reading!
Had the Supreme last night for dinner with all the extra fixings on the Kaiser roll. Ymmm Ymmm Grrrreat!
you guys know how to make a flat, non-sticky cheese slice? Mine are OK, but don't have that shiny, dry surface. Thanks! Alan
Thanks Bob.Your recipies are just fantastic. They are so excellent that i could not resist on eating on the other and they are so so excellent that i can't even describe it in words
