Best Garden Gift Ideas
62Gifts for the Gardener
Gifts, shopping can be fun when you have an idea about what you want to buy. There is a big difference between buying something for yourself and shopping for a gift for someone else. Gifts are fun to give and we all anticipate the excitement and pleasure that follows the opening of a gift, especially if it is something the receiver actually wanted.
Gardeners, like anyone, enjoy getting gifts, but, just like everybody else they can be particular about what they get. So the first rules is know what your gardener likes and select a gift that blends.
For the indoor gardener, a little light can be helpful. Light is an essential element in successful growing and often indoors the light is insufficient so a grow light kit can be a great gift.
The AeroGarden is a good way to grow food indoors all year round and, thus, it makes an excellent gift for the indoor gardener who wants fresh herbs and tomatoes, regardless of the weather outside.
Moving outside, my mind is on our new home and there are two items that would be perfect gifts, one is lighting, most likely solar décor lights for the backyard. The new home has a double lot and right now it is mostly gravel and weeds, but that will change. I have a small vegetable garden in one corner and want some solar lighting near by and another light at the far end of the large shed to shed a bit of light into a corner of darkness.
The second item is outdoor furniture, this varies from a single chair to a complete living room and dining room suite, but I’d love two good comfortable chairs that can handle the rain so I do not need to bring them indoors except in winter.
Now what would really cap this off is some shade protection, the lack of trees in the new yard means the sun hits the deck early and stays there all day, not the ideal scenario for sitting outside during the day, so a patio umbrella would be nice.
The design plans include making use of vertical space so trellises would make good gifts.
If you are planning to give your favourite gardener a gift be sure to take a good close look at the gardener’s garden and get a sense of what is missing.
Plants also make great gifts personally I would like a few small apple trees and two sour cherry trees please.

This is a great idea and when you're talking about outside the house...you've completely forgotten about giving a garden gnome. I love these little guys and they also make wonder gifts!
I agree with jiberish, I too never thought like that! Never thought that if you are gifting a gardener these are the point to be kept in mind. Good one!
